DETROIT -- As the economy continues to slide, General Motors will unveil it's official production version of the plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt on Tuesday.

The Volt could help the US economy by reducing oil demand, and helping restore American leadership and industrial powerhouse GM.

The Volt would be especially attractive with a small clean diesel as it's engine, allowing drivers to use non-petroleum biodiesel fuel.

My family and I in Tucson may even sign up soon and try to lease a Volt when available, depending on costs. As a frequent critic of GM, I applaud their efforts on the Volt and hope it succeeds.
