McCain should debate economy, stop posturing

The debate should go on

TUCSON -- The desperate and flailing John McCain should keep his word to the American people and participate in the important presidential debate Friday night with Barack Obama in Oxford, Mississippi.

If McCain truly wants to focus on the Wall Street bailout deal, after more than a year of ignoring his responsibilities to Arizonans and votes as Senator, debating clearly about the deal and the economy in front of a huge national audience is a great way to have influence.

The real truth may be McCain doesn't have much meaningful to say on the economy, and he wants to avoid a debate during this economic crisis caused by failed GOP deregulation and policies he's long supported.
