Pima County's at-risk youth need our support now
by Jeneiene Schaffer
TUCSON -- Spiritual teachings tell us that when you give to those most in need, you will get back your offering ten-fold. This teaching comes to my mind so often when I think about how many of us are blessed to have families and children who are safe, well-fed, and loved. But, there are also many in our community whose children are the most vulnerable and the most at-risk. By helping these at-risk children, we help them to stay in school, stay off drugs, and feel empowered to improve their lives and the communities we all share together.
I am asking you to give today to help these at risk children and become a sponsor of Youth Empowerment Services (YES) Network's "Golf for Youth Classic". This fun event will take place at the beautiful Hilton El Conquistador Country Club on Friday, November 14th. For more
information, click here. For sponsorship information, please call YES-Network at 520.297.0702
YES-Network works to provide funding for weekly direct meetings with Tucson youth (6-24) at risk in these program areas: creative expression, drug education and violence prevention, education assistance and training, health awareness, job readiness and training, and one-on-one mentoring.
I am personally involved in one of YES-Network's recipient non-profits called I Can Do All Things. Our daughter Ruby and I attend one of their most fabulous programs called Sister Circle. Women and girls gather together and learn in a safe and fun environment basic quality of life skills such as: planning and growing a kitchen garden, sewing and mending clothes, health and hygiene, and how to cook nutritious meals.
Please join me in supporting groups like YES-Network who help our youth at-risk and our communities to stay healthy and strong. In bad economic times, it is not, like our church minister says, 'a time to be afraid and run and hide'. It is time to reach out and give. It will come back to you ten-fold. Guaranteed.
Please make a pledge today to empower at-risk youth and to enrich yourself as well. Call YES-Network today at 520.297.0702
