AZ company in deal with China for big solar plant
TEMPE AZ -- First Solar, an Arizona company (FSLR), signed an agreement yesterday with the city of Ordos, China to build a 2,000-megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant, said Michael J. Ahearn, First Solar's chairman and chief executive. The sprawling project in the Inner Mongolian desert would be the company's first in Asia and its largest outside the US.
I'm glad to see China doing more for clean energy and working with Arizona firms. Hopefully they will both also just as strongly pursue the clear benefits of rooftop solar in cities where most power is used, not just desert-hogging projects in remote places.
